Extraordinary Rendition

For those that aren’t familiar with extraordinary rendition, please make yourself aware of what it is and not only how unconstitutional it is, but how downright evil it is. The first line describing extraordinary rendition on Wikipedia describes it quite well:

Extraordinary rendition and irregular rendition describe the abduction and extrajudicial transfer of a person from one nation to another. “Torture by proxy” is used by some critics to describe situations in which the United States has transferred suspected terrorists to countries known to practice torture.

I don’t know about you, but putting a black bag over someone’s head, kidnapping them, and shipping them off to another country to be tortured in the name of preventing terrorism is completely disgusting. That’s right, forget about that pesky 4th Amendment, forget about a warrant being signed, forget about the fact that you may have been an American citizen minding your own business – if you don’t give up your Constitutional rights, the terrorists win!

Hogwash.

And if you think for a moment that this couldn’t happen to you or rarely happens, think again. Since 2001, the United States has captured an estimated 3,000 people and transported them around the world for this type of brutal “interrogation” to “combat terrorism”.

So when did this brutal tactic become a policy? Most would think right after 9/11 and it was signed as an executive order by George Bush. You would be wrong. The CIA was granted permission to use extraordinary rendition by a presidential directive signed in 1995 by Bill Clinton. Bush, of course, used extraordinary rendition often to “fight terrorism”. Obama had the chance to shut down this type of behavior immediately after taking office. Instead, Obama actively allowed extraordinary rendition to continue even though one of his promises was to cease extraordinary rendition. To be quite frank – I don’t care who has decided to allow it. IT IS ILLEGAL AND IMMORAL AND NEEDS TO BE STOPPED!

Health care reform? I don’t think so.

I’ve been discussing this on Facebook with quite a variety of friends and there has been a lot of very informative, insightful, and well…just really good ideas overall. I have found that one really simple solution to try before trying to create socialized medicine. Remove government intervention completely from the healthcare business. By this I mean allow people to obtain health care insurance across state lines. This will create a LOT of competition as people look for the best rates. If the government is serious about healthcare “reform”, then at least start by removing themselves from the industry as the government are the problem to begin with. Give it two years after removing the restriction. If I’m right, I just saved us all trillions of dollars. If I’m wrong, then fine…spend our trillions dollars.

By the way, did you know that included in the Democrat health care bill is a provision for 16,500 new IRS agents. What for? To verify if you have “acceptable” health care coverage and to fine you up to $2,250 or 2 percent of your income (whichever is greater) for failure to prove that you have purchased “minimum essential coverage.” Sorry, but to me, $2,250 is almost a years worth of healthcare coverage. We are in a real financial crisis and putting everyone into more debt (tax-wise and fine-wise) will not help the situation.

The system is broken. Somewhere around 70% of American people DON’T WANT THIS BILL TO GO THROUGH. But yet Obama and his posse want to jam it down our throats. Bribing senate/congress members didn’t work. Changing the bill didn’t work. Adding 300 pages to one of the proposed bills at 3am – just a few hours before it was supposed to be voted on – didn’t work. Trying to legitimately have it pass didn’t work. Pelosi stating “just pass it and we can all see what’s in the bill” didn’t work. Bringing in the “Slaughter” rule didn’t pan out (yet). So what are they doing? Calling a vote on it on a Sunday. Evening. On Passover…a religious holiday that most voting on it celebrate. Yeah, nothing sneaky going on there.

As one friend has said – change is never easy. However, if it were a GOOD change, people would say “hey, what the heck…let’s try it”. Change for the sake of change is never a good thing. Putting everyone in debt for the ~15% of the people out there that do not have health insurance is not a good change. The US taxpayer will be paying on this and not even realizing the benefits from it for another HOW MANY YEARS after THEY’VE ALREADY BEEN PAYING FOR IT? No, this is not a good change. Not telling us how they’re going to just “set the money aside” (you know, like they did with Social Security) for when this stuff takes effect is not a good change.

Healthcare reform, YES. Government takeover, HELL NO!
